FAQ

Common questions, plainly answered

Review how mail types, tracking, payments, refunds, privacy, and postage adjustments work before creating a label.

Platform and independence

Is TrackALetter USPS?

No. TrackALetter is an independent software service. It is not USPS, Pitney Bowes, or a government agency.

Is my label PDF private?

Yes. Label PDFs are served through authenticated, owner-checked routes. Other customers and anonymous users cannot open them.

Labels and tracking

Do letters and flats include tracking?

Eligible TrackALetter letters and flats include barcode-based machine-scan tracking. Scan events can show movement through USPS automated sorting equipment and may show delivery-related updates. Scan coverage can vary, events may be skipped or delayed, and this is not Certified Mail, signature confirmation, or guaranteed legal proof of delivery. Packages use supported carrier tracking where available.

Is this the same as USPS Tracking?

Packages may use supported carrier tracking. Letters and flats use barcode-based machine-scan tracking, which is different from hand-scanned package tracking and Certified Mail.

Is this proof of delivery?

No. TrackALetter tracking is not guaranteed legal proof of delivery. If formal proof is required, use Certified Mail, signature confirmation, or another approved USPS service.

Why did my letter show delivered early or not update?

Machine-scan events can be early, delayed, skipped, or affected by USPS processing. Some eligible letters and flats may receive limited scan events depending on routing and equipment.

Can I create package labels?

Yes. Select Package and enter the packed weight and dimensions. Package tracking is available when supported by the selected service.

Pricing and payments

Do I need a subscription?

No subscription required. Pay per label or optionally use TrackALetter Balance.

What fees do I pay?

You pay provider postage plus the TrackALetter service fee. The full total is shown before checkout.

What payment methods are supported?

Stripe-hosted Checkout accepts cards and may show eligible wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Link.

Refunds and adjustments

Can I refund a label?

Eligible unused Package labels may offer a refund request for a limited time. Letter and Flat refund requests are not available in TrackALetter v1.

Why do refunds take time?

Payment refunds and postage-provider refunds are separate. Customer funds move after an eligible provider refund is accepted.

What happens if postage is adjusted later?

USPS or the provider may report an adjustment after measuring the mailpiece. TrackALetter does not automatically charge a saved card for APV without separate explicit authorization.

Prohibited items and responsibilities

Can I use this for prohibited items?

No. Follow USPS and applicable legal restrictions for prohibited, hazardous, illegal, or restricted mail.

What if I entered the wrong address or weight?

Do not use an incorrect label. If eligible, request cancellation promptly and create a corrected label after checking the original status.

Account and support

How do I get help with an order?

Contact support with your account email, order ID if available, and a concise issue summary. Never send a password or full card number.
